Back from Denmark, my focus turned from playing tourist and back to bike racer. On our trip to the Nordic land we decided to leave our bikes at home for ease of travel. And while our trip was not totally devoid of exercise, we did a few hour-long runs after all, getting back on the bike on Tuesday felt somewhat foreign. Arriving home from Luxembourg, it felt like a weight had been lifted off my chest. The Kersteperiode, while memorable and amazing, had taken its toll on me physically and mentally. The constant cycle of race and recover left me in need of some down time to mentally recharge. I didn’t set an alarm and gave myself some time to sleep on Wednesday and just get back into the flow of a “normal” week and the New Year.

2018 USAC Cyclocross Nationals 2.0

After two week of racing at home in Texas and Oklahoma, it was time for the Big Show. Returning to sacred ground of American Cyclocross Lore, the 2018 USAC Cyclocross National Championships v2.0 was set to take place the following week. With inclement weather on the horizon, it remained to be seen what the course would be like and who would be rising to the top step.

2018 Ruts N Guts

Before UCI cyclocross racing came to the South Central US, there was the Southern Cross Series. With races in Waco, Dallas, and Tulsa, the series drew solid crowds of racers and offered three different courses to challenge your skills and your legs. A few years have passed but Ruts N Guts has remained as a staple event. As the last C1 race on the ProCX calendar, many top riders were making the trip to Broken Arrow to get one final tune-up before the championship races in Louisville.

2018 Resolution Cross Cup

The Resolution Cross Cup is an event that is near and dear to my heart. It’s also near to my home and it’s an event I have been looking forward to since the Spring. The Texas Cross Syndicate has a knack for building incredible courses and this year would be no different. And even though I trained in Winters Park all Summer, it remained to be seen whether my local knowledge could translate to international results.
